Sunnyside’s Dogs Have Been Blessed!

Oct. 7, 2012 By Christian Murray

About 40 residents, with pets in tow, attended this year’s “Blessing of the Animals” event at All Saints Church on 46th Street on Saturday.

The attendees all brought dogs– with the exception of one woman who had a cat and a 7-year-old boy who brought his hamster (called Shadow).

Pastor Joseph Jerome started the ceremony with a reading, which was followed by a prayer and a hymn. Some attendees spoke about their animals and why they are special. The animals were then blessed.
