PODCAST: We Speak to Jesse Laymon, Candidate for the 26th District Council Seat

Nearly 20 candidates have come forward to run in next June’s Democratic primary for the 26th District Council seat currently held by Jimmy Van Bramer.

Today, we speak to Jesse Laymon who is one of those candidates vying for the seat that covers Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City and a portion of Astoria.

Laymon is a resident of the Ravenswood/Dutch Kills neighborhood in Long Island City.

Prior to the launch of his campaign, Laymon was the Director of Policy at the NYC Employment and Training Coalition.

Laymon also spent years as an organizer and leader for Citizen Action of New York as Downstate Campaigns Director.

According to reports, this is significantly higher (148%) than the national average and has increased by 7% since December 2023.
