Sept. 7, 2010 Staff Report
Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer is not only trying to clean up the neighborhood’s graffiti problem– but he’s also moving to wipe Sunnyside clean of pigeon feces.
In an earlier story that ran on this news site, it included a picture of the 46th Street subway with pigeon feces splattered all over the newspaper boxes.
Last weekend, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer’s office reached out and said that the mess had been cleaned up.

it didnt take long for the boxes to once again become covered in bird crap… like Jose said, the solution isn’t to clean them once a year… that whole area by the subway entrance is nasty.
Stop the misguided senior citizens who throw large piles of bread crumbs on the street to feed these winged rats.
Either they never have newspapers in them or the newspapers are gone really fast. But if the boxes are removed then the feces will land on the floor. Either way, it is unsightly. Why not put those anti-pigeon spikes wherever it is that the birds are congregating.
Those things never have newspapers in them. Get rid of them. Problem solved.
