June 8, 2022 By Michael Dorgan

A man was shot Tuesday afternoon during a wild daytime shootout near a playground in Woodside.

The shootout involved two men exchanging gunfire at around 3:20 p.m. on the corner of 65th Street and Broadway, which is directly across the street from Hart Playground.

One of the two men, identified as Tenzin Norgyal, 28, was shot in the shoulder by an unidentified individual who had gotten out of a black-colored Audi. The pair fired shots at each other before the Audi driver fled the scene in the vehicle, police said.

Police released video of Norgyal, of Middle Village, walking on the sidewalk moments before the gunfire erupted.

The video shows Norgyal arguing with the Audi driver as the vehicle slowly rounds the corner.

Seconds later the Audi stops and the driver gets out of the car to approach him.

Norgyal finds cover behind an outdoor dining fixture and fires his gun at the Audi driver, the footage shows. Norgyal, wearing a gray hoodie and shorts, can be seen with a gun in his right hand and a cigarette on his left. The outdoor dining area belongs to the Woodside Cafe.

The Audi driver then runs back to his car and grabs a gun before returning fire at Norgyal – striking him in the right shoulder.

The driver is then seen attempting to conceal his face with his shirt as he dashes back to his car again. He then flees the scene in the Audi northbound on 64th Street, police said.

Norgyal was transported privately to NYC Health & Hospitals/Elmhurst where he is listed as being in a stable condition.

Police have since arrested Norgyal and charged him with attempted murder. Police say he is a member of the TNT gang and has six prior arrests.

The NYPD said the shooting is not yet being considered gang-related, although the incident is still under investigation.

Meanwhile, the Audi driver is still on the loose and police describe him as being around 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 150 pounds. He has a medium build with a medium complexion and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a red and white colored short-sleeved shirt, gray shorts and black sneakers with white trims.

Police also released images of the Audi used in the incident. Police say the Audi has a paper license plate.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/.

Why are liberals always loosening gun laws?

Liberals love the NRA and always want to make guns easy to get, so this is on them!

Look who’s doing the shooting? Look who shoved a woman off a subway platform (recent occurrence), look who knocked a man down who was just walking on the street, look at crime that’s happening every day, every minute of the day and if you notice it’s not little old italian or irish men shooting and killing people.

It’s okay…Juan Ardilla would advocate for them to get community service at most and be their champion cause they are poor misunderstood souls…..but not the kids in the playground or the other innocent bystanders.

This is ALL about politics…everything that happens in this city is a political act that can be traced back to some policy…these fellas are violent repeat offenders. Progressive policies allowed him to roam the streets.

Addams has done absolutely zero regarding any type of safety for our city, except talk, and maybe give us a much needed swagger, thank god for his swagger. what ever guiliani did, worked, bloomberg kept it, it worked, then along comes big bird democrat, and he single handed ruined the city after all the hard work that was done for the previous 12 or so years. why cant they ever keep what the previous administration had that worked and follow it thru.

Bad voting practices of nyc

Arrested 6 times before the article says and I’m guessing if not out already he will be soon. What happened to this city it is broken from years of Democrats and their awful soft on crimes policies. Disgusting

Yes, the republican party is essentially responsible for the ease of access to guns

But the Dem voters are the ones shooting.

Reality sucks, bro.

Bad voting – The kids who committed mass murder in Texas and Buffalo NY were Republicans according to their journals and manifestos. Are you sure the two imbeciles in this article vote in the US?

No No No, it’s the dopey Dems that keep the criminals armed and the law abiding citizens disarmed. If Republicans had their way law abiding citizens would be carrying concealed and be able to protect themselves. But instead you get skells like these guys with untraceable ghost guns that they made themselves. That has nothing to do with Republicans and the NRA.

James – it has everything to do with Republicans and the NRA. You express the gullibility that the Republican Party feeds off. You come across as a frustrated wanna be cop.

Thank liberals in office

Kindly allow me to correct this statement – bad voting, liberals in office. Criminals have access to guns, thanks to liberal and progressive in power. Adams is a Democrat, so is AOC. They are in office, and should be held accountable, as should the criminals. Blaming others is a Democrat thing to do.

Tenzin Norygal? Sounds Nepalese to me. Nice. Are we now going to have Nepalese gangsters also?

People named Tenzin are usually from Tibet, not Nepal. He’s probably born & raised here, just like all of the other thugs carrying illegal handguns around here.

It’s much easier for anyone, including criminals, to get their hands on a gun, thanks to the Republicans. Are you seriously going to pretend otherwise?

criminals buy guns illegally and do not follow gun laws…has nothing to do with gun control….gun control only regulates legally purchased firearms….they are not afraid to carry and use them due to bad progressive policy…stop spreading misinformation

Most illegal guns start out as legal guns. By flooding our homes with legal guns we just make it easier for criminals to steal themself a new piece. But with ghost guns, who even needs gun shops now!

I’m all about concealed carry but at a certain point you need to admit, our approach to guns is not working as stated on paper. 2A says ‘self regulated’, so lets regulate the so that at least the same req as driving should be in place for guns at min, and remove dangerous non-hunting rifles from the market. Use a bow for skill.

Gun crime: Thanks Republicans!

Idiots don’t make the connection between the easy availability of guns and the Republicans’ refusal to reign them in on the national level.

Show us where you can get a legal gun without a background check? We’ll wait. All of these guns are ghost guns that these guys put together using parts they get from all over. The newer group of gang bangers put their guns together, they don’t buy them or even have someone purchase them for them, which is known as a straw purchase. Also maybe if you dopey Dems would stop protecting criminals and let them rot in jail instead of voting for morons that let them right back on the street, crap like this wouldn’t be happening.

Criminal arrested 5 times, released thanks to Democrats, not Republicans

Idiots don’t make the connection that because Democrats have relaxed punishment on criminals, they are repeat offenders. Arrested 6 times? That means Democrats failed to punish this criminal 5 times. Stop blaming Republicans who are not in office, and focus on the issue. If something happens, blame the leader and the criminal.

I guess we don't need abortion laws then, huh?

Since criminals don’t care about laws in any way, shape or form, why are Trump voters so interested in outlawing abortion?

Working folks paying taxes are paying their rent, food and healthcare. These types of incidents usually involve street gangs from public housing and/or rental assistance and govt programs for the poor in and around the neighborhood.

I agree, get guns of the streets. Everytime crime happens, just look at who is actually in power, Biden, Adams, AOC. If anything bad happens, blame yourself for voting liberal.

Right across from the day laborer park. when they don’t get work they get drunk and terrorize the neighborhood, peeing openly, going into drive ways to wash at taps and sleeping on all available surfaces. Glad to see such sharp images of the gun men.
