A man was found dead on the subway tracks in Long Island City early Thursday.

The victim’s body was discovered by a train operator who was pulling into the 21st Street Queensbridge station in a northbound F-train at around 12:40 a.m., according to the MTA.

The subway driver saw the victim on the track and immediately applied the emergency breaks and did not come into contact with the victim, police said.

Police were unsure how the man wound up on the tracks in the first place. However, they believe he may have been struck by an earlier train.

First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene and removed his body from the tracks. The victim is believed to be a man in his 30s.

The investigation is ongoing and the NYPD did not provide any further details.

The identity of the deceased is pending family notification.
