Police are looking for an alleged carjacker who forcibly removed a plumber out of his own van on Northern Boulevard last month and drove off with the vehicle.
The plumber was parked at the intersection of 87th Street and Northern Boulevard at around 10:20 p.m. on Jan. 31 when the suspect walked up alongside the van and opened the driver’s side door.
The alleged thief then threw the plumber out of the van and hopped in the driver’s seat before driving off in an unknown direction.
The vehicle was found nearly two weeks later on Feb. 12 at an undisclosed location in northeast Queens, according to the NYPD. The victim was uninjured, and it is unclear whether any items in the vehicle were stolen.
Police describe the suspect as a man between 20 to 30 years old. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing. The NYPD has released video footage of the suspect taken near the scene of the alleged carjacking.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

Not surprised this is happening. People need money. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2022/02/21/nearly-one-third-of-nyc-bus-riders-arent-paying-the-fare/amp/
Jackie- People aren’t paying their fare because they believe they’re entitled to free rides.
What a privileged response. Bus and train fare is a lot of money for the working class.
Jackie – I stood by the port authority entrance to the 8th Avenue line for 20 minutes and easily counted 30 people evade their fares. Many were obviously construction workers and well dressed student age people and mostly people of color except Asian.
People are not only desperate to feed their families and loved ones but i saw a woman walking out with about 15 cans of cat food the other day. Its just sad. More needs to be done to help the poor and oppressed.
The alleged thief, the alleged plumber, the alleged van.
Glad no one hurt and i feel bad for the driver…and here is a quote from our mayor adams “But at the same time, we don’t want to go back to clogging the court and jails with people charged with and convicted of petty crimes.” Our city has failed so many blk men.
So scary. My bike was also stolen last week.
Crime, assaults and traffic accidents and deaths have significantly increased since smoking and selling cannabis was made legal in NY.
Pat, I’d like to solve this puzzle….
Mayor might want to focus more on soaring crime and locking up criminals than pushing homeless out of sheltering. Being homeless is not a crime!
I had high hopes for Eric. So far he is less than impressive.
Its like no one is safe in nyc.

Our city streets are so unsafe. The mayor is focusing on getting the homeless off the subways to get people back to work and keep tourists safe. However now that the weather is getting warmer i feel that more homeless will just seek shelter on our streets. He is also focusing on drill rap music trying to ban it in order to stop shootings among black youth.
Always lock your doors
Lesson learned .
The suspect was likely mystified by the contents of the van. I doubt he has any idea what work tools are.
