CityMD to Temporarily Close Sunnyside and Rego Park Clinics, Amid Widespread Closures

Dec. 28, 2021 By Christian Murray

CityMD, which operates a popular chain of urgent care clinics, will be temporarily closing its Sunnyside and Rego Park locations starting Wednesday.

The chain, which has been a go-to spot for many to get both rapid and PCR tests for COVID-19, began closing clinics on Dec. 22 due to staff shortages stemming from the pandemic. It initially closed 20 centers across the New York metro area, including three in Queens.

On Wednesday, the company will close 11 additional clinics—including the Sunnyside and Rego Park locations– across the metro area. The company will have closed 31 of its 150 centers.

With the latest round of closures, five clinics in Queens will have temporarily closed. The company shut down three Queens locations on Dec. 22, with the affected clinics being CityMD Corona, CityMD Ditmars in Astoria and CityMD Woodhaven. They remain closed.

“To preserve our ability to staff our sites, we have temporarily closed certain locations…,” the company said in a statement Tuesday. “It is our hope that closing sites now will best allow us to avoid future closures as this surge continues.”

The company did not indicate when it plans to reopen the clinics.

“Continuing to provide these services to the community is a top priority; however, our physicians and teammates are also a priority,” the company said.

Bad business move after just moving into the area and trying to establish itself with the neighborhood. I totally understand the staffing situation. However, not a good move to close this facility so early in its start up and after other closings in Astoria and Western Queens. Told to go to Maspeth. The Sunnyside facility has the subway stop right there and bus lines. Maspeth has no subway.

Will not have any problems when they open back up. I tried to make an appointment with my PCP and its a month wait and no visitors are allowed. I told them i need my daughter with me to help me walk and they said she can walk me to my seat in the waiting room and leave. Last time we did that there were a bunch of people there with their spouses and small kids. But the receptionists didnt say anything to them because i guess she didnt want to be accused of being racists. She only asked visitors who spoke and read english to leave. You can see a doctor at an urgent care center the same day you need to go.

We all know how much you love getting vitamin D in you. Why do you keep copying my user name? Get your own!

They don’t mention ivermectin or hydroxychloroquine either…because they (and your vitamins) are ineffective treatments for Covid. Get another user name…how about Brain Fog?

Because he doesnt want to be accused of inflation when it comes to the price of vitamin d or c. I prefer the vitamins because the fruits and veggies at the market are not fresh and very expensive.

The best thing we can do as New Yorkers to reduce the spread of covid 19 infections is to get vaccinated, get tested, wear a double mask, stay home and order take out. Do not forget to support minority owned business. Chinese food is so delicious and affordable especially when you order lunch and all day specials and free delivery,

Lines will decrease once the white house sends everyone a kit. Most of the people getting tested are people who need official results to take off from work. Funny how they reduced time off during a covid surge. All done for political reasons.

It will go away by mid term elections. Or we will be told to get another booster and the media focus will be om trumpsters and Republicans who refuse to get it.

Please wash your hands. I hate those keyboard pads and customer assistance buzzers that customers need to use to get a discount or a tube toothpaste at big chain pharmacies in the neighborhood. They cause people to wait and gather. Its sad walking into these places and seeing otc healthcare and household products locked up due to a soft stance on shoplifting. I cant believe even the detergent is locked up. I hope eric adams deems it racists against blk and brn people and these pharmacies are forced to open it back up. The vids on social media of people stealing speak for themselves but you cant punish everyone.

You can’t punish private businesses for trying to protect their inventory from theft when the district attorneys refuse to prosecute thieves. Many of the “shoplifters” could be charged with a felony regardless of the value of items stolen if the thief uses or threatens to use force.

Despite a mask mandate for indoor activities in New York City people are still attending indoor gatherings and not wearing masks. Just yesterday I saw people without masks at the supermarket and at the pharmacy and no one said anything. At the supermarket somebody did try to speak nicely to someone that was not wearing a mask and the person just cursed them out in front of a worker and continued making his business transaction.

People need to chill. From my understanding if you got your booster shot most likely your symptoms will be mild to nonexistent. We will all know someone that tested positive the past week in nyc even though many left for the holidays. Our city is so dense so of course there will be people that are not staying home for 5 days so many of us will end up catching covid and many will end up not even knowing they have it.

Your understanding is terrible

We get vaccines and wear masks to protect ourselves AND those around us. Omicron has killed plenty of New Yorkers.

It’s true that your chances of avoiding a severe case or hospitalization are better if you are fully vaccinated and boostered, as I am (Pfizer). But even though boosted, you still have a 1 in 4 chance in getting infected since Omicron is so easy to catch. You can and should increase your chances by double-masking, keeping your social distance, staying out of crowded spaces, washing/sanitizing your hands.

It’s too early to know if there will be long-term consequences to mild infections from the Omicron variant. Many of those who still have Long Covid symptoms from a previous Covid infection had “mild” infections. It’s not just like the flu.

Probably can’t staff the locations because of the Mayor’s jab mandate. Idiocracy at its finest.

Gary,

Not sure of your numbers, but they are gone because of selfishness, pure and simple. I only wish you could turn away the non- vaccinated from ER care.

Staffing shortages due to medical tyranny “brought to you by Pfizer.” What ever happened to herd immunity? You have Dr’s and nurse’s who’ve had covid but are forced to take the clot shot?

There is stupid then there is Fox Stupid

Lib- Herd immunity needs the cooperation of the weak minded gullible Fox Viewers who have allowed the topic to be politicized. That’s what happened to herd immunity.

“Medical tyranny!” YOU’RE HILARIOUS!

Tell us about the other tyrannies you’ve lived through, “Libertas,” like that time your MMR vaccines prevented you from getting measles, mumps and rubella.

Or that time the “economic tyranny” of taxes paid for your roads, bridges, subways and public schools.

If you’re so in love with “Libertas,” why not move to a mountain cabin and fend for yourself with the bears, ticks and whatnot? “Liberate” yourself from the rest of us slaves, why don’t you?

The cracks in our healthcare system are growing wider.

Thanks to the frontline healthcare workers who are doing the testing. Get vaccinated and boosted, and wear a better mask or two.

Amazon faces largest U.S. strike as Maspeth teamsters join nationwide picket lines Thursday

Hundreds of warehouse workers and drivers walked off the job and joined the picket line outside the massive DBK4 Amazon fulfillment center in Maspeth on Thursday morning as the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) launched the largest strike ever against the $2 trillion corporation in New York City, Atlanta, Southern California, San Francisco, and Illinois.

Amazon workers at other facilities across the country say they are prepared to join them to protest unfair labor practices after the IBT set a Dec. 15 deadline for Amazon to begin negotiations on a new agreement. The union was ignored.
