Fifteen candidates will be running in June’s Democratic primary for the 26th District Council seat currently held by Jimmy Van Bramer, who is term limited.

In today’s podcast we speak to Badrun Kahn, who is one of those candidates vying for the seat that covers Sunnyside, Woodside, Long Island City and a portion of Astoria.

Khan, who is the daughter of Bengali immigrants, is a resident of Sunnyside and a member of Community Board 2. She works as a financial controller for a non-profit organization in the Bronx.

She calls for additional funding for small businesses, greater public safety and the expansion of special education programs at public schools.
