Moral of thy story. Run a red light on a bike at night get squashed under a bus. No simpler than that.
Watch out cyclists will fight you on twitter when you ask them to follow the rules.
If I had the time, I could make a beautiful art piece called “this is why bikers suck” by placing like 10 cameras around sunnyside intersections and record shenanigans of cyclists, how many times they come close to being squashed or hitting pedestrians when they go against the light, wrong way, ride on sidewalk and much more.
it’s alarming how many bike riders choose not to use the designated bike lanes while riding at night. To make matters worse most of them do not have reflectors or a safety vest..I urge riders to consider the dangers while riding at night and to remain safe.
its alarming how many bike riders choose not to obey traffic signals either. this is the price to be paid for ignoring the rules of the road. when you have this many people, you have to start making everyone get licenses, including every bike and scooter rider, and start imposing speed limits for them as well, because too many lives are lost.
they run stopsigns i tells ya
Moral of the story: don’t run red lights. Bad things happen if you do. See also:

You’re right though, why aren’t the $15 billion in new taxes for the wall building anything?
“Don’t enter the country illegally” are you serious? The man is dead and that’s what you comment ? Have respect for the dead.
attention people read the article — The man was riding his bicycle westbound on 31st Avenue when he ran a red light at the intersection with 51st Street and was hit by a Q18 bus around 11:23 p.m., police said.
God, that must have hurt when that 50 ton bus ran over his body. That’s why I don’t ride bicycles!
That light was green. The cyclist was murdered, why cover for the bus driver? Poor old man..
Baraba S ,Read before you post your comments ,it stated that the cyclist ran a red light !!

Old man??? Old????. Do buses have road cameras?
Even the young-old and the old-young need to be careful.
Not a good time to die. Do you know how much a grave in St. Michaels costs? $14,000 plus a headstone, plus coffin, you would not believe!
You’re wrong. He was crushed under that bus because he ran a red light. He was irresponsible and that’s what he got. Calling the bus driver a murderer is defamatory! You’re a fool.
The coroners report said that he died from a severed spinal chord from being run over by a heavy object.
Pay attention.
