The Sunnyside Farmers Market opened for the summer/fall seasons on Saturday.

This year there were 14 vendors, up from the 11 that were there last year.

“It was a good turnout for the first day back,” said Margaret Hoffman (far left above), regional coordinator at Greenmarket.

Jessica Cortes manages the Sunnyside operation (far right, above).

She will be forwarding a list of all the participating vendors, which will be posted shortly.

The Farmers’ market will be open every Saturday until Dec. 18, from 8 am – 4 pm. It is located on Skillman Ave. (betw. 42rd and 43rd).

Very expensive -$6/qt. of strawberries- and you’d better eat what you buy within 24 hours or it’s moldy time.

I’m so happy this is back up and running again! It definitely feels like summertime now.

Does anyone remember the clean energy vendor that was there? I want to look them up online, but can’t remember their name. Thanks!

The fresh apple juice blends were simply the best thing I drank all year! The Chardonnay from the North Fork vinyard was superb! I made a seafood pasta sauce with half of the bottle…garlic, shallots, butter, EVOO, S&P, oregano…sautee…toss in mussels, clams…add wine…steam 3 min…add shrimp…2 min more…chopped parsely….onto linguine….HEAVEN.

Thieves caught on camera stealing ATM from East Elmhurst store, one of nearly 50 heists by same crew: NYPD

Two thieves were caught on camera stealing an ATM at an East Elmhurst convenience store just before Christmas.

The NYPD says the two perpetrators belong to a three-man crew that has broken into 49 commercial establishments across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx in the last four months of 2024. In each incident, two of the crooks haul away ATM machines before speeding away from each crime scene in stolen vehicles driven by a getaway driver.
