Woman who allegedly took exception to another customer complaining she wasn’t wearing a mask (Facebook)

A video has gone viral of a woman deliberately coughing on another customer at a bagel shop in Astoria.
In the video, a woman comes into New York City Bagel & Coffee House on Broadway–near 30th Street–to pick up an order without a mask on June 6.
Another customer complains to an employee that there is a customer without a mask.
The woman takes offense and erupts into a fit of anger.
Called out for not wearing a mask…
So she coughs on somebody, not realizing she is being recorded.

“You’re a pussy, such a pussy,” the woman says to customer who was complaining. “Say that to my face.”
The staff then serve the woman her order. She grabs it and then goes over to the customer who complained and coughs in her face.
“What the F$$k is wrong with you?” the victim who is coughed on says. “You A-Hole.”
The woman then realizes that she is being recorded as she exits.
The victim later went on Facebook to provide an account of the incident.

New York has had one of the worst outbreaks anywhere. It is not over…… and to cough in a restricted area is bound to cause alarm as that is how the virus spreads….. Far too often we allow behavior that we would not defend ourselves but would also not call out. I am not one of those…. We don’t need to be accepting by silence……Got a phone use it!
Its like a bad movie that won’t end….all these self entitled white women on video are going viral and becoming Karen memes. Its sad and funny at the same time.

If the stores policy is to wear a mask and someone comes in w/o one its their place to enforce their rules… or not. If you decide to say something, be prepared for whatever that person may do and in this madhouse of a world that can be anything.

Wearing a mask does NOT protect you from germs. But other people wearing a mask DOES protect you from exposure their breath and mouth droplets. And cost is not an issue, you can get free masks everywhere. Even the NYPD is handing them out left and right.

After living in Astoria for many years I can tell you that some young white newcomers in that neighborhood have this type mentality. Its why I moved out. They overpay for rent and dining and feel like they should be catered to and allowed to do as they please. Many are obnoxious, rude and do not care about community they live in unless it involves critiquing restaurants and bars on social media. They are all for acting like they pretend to care but we see their true colors when they think no one is video taping.
It’s the arrogant wealthy types that have gentrified many poor or working class neighborhoods. Their parents obviously didn’t teach them how to behave and are self centered. The woman in question has her identity discovered and ironically she used to work as an assistant medical researcher.
Now Karen’s going to be number three million thirty-two on the unemployment line…??♀️

Media is reporting that the white lady who coughed on the other customer used to work as an assistant research coordinator at medical college Weill Cornell Medicine? Her name and identity are on social media.

I have seen the same thing happen on the subway and on the street. City officials have asked that you do not confront people not following social distancing guideline or not wearing a mask but call 311 to file a complaint. People are stressed and you are better off keeping your distance. Shaming people could lead to someone getting hurt. You just do not know who you are video taping and confronting based on their appearance.

If the lady she coughed on was a black or brown person some would of turned it into a hate crime. The establishment should of never served her and asked her to leave. If it was a phone order she should of been asked to wait outside. Whats the point of having all the signs at the door if staff is not enforcing the no mask no service policy.
Very typically behavior I have seen and experienced when visiting Astoria. Most avenues are filled with a bunch of Karen’s and entitled white males. During the pandemic those that could not afford to go back home come out at night and the streets turn into a loud alcoholic festival. My friend who I was visiting can not wait to move out. She tells me that the area is so overrated, loud, over crowded and just plain dirty.
Astoria is dirty? Have you seen the streets of Corona, Jackson Heights and East Elmhurst?

well, someone just lost their job and career. she should leave an application with the bagel store, although, i personally dont think she’s qualified to perform the level of work needed. you need to have some basic level of competency and education.
