Council Member Costa Constantinides posted on twitter last night that his wife—-who has a number of pre-existing conditions– is seriously ill with coronavirus.
Constantinides, a private person who typically doesn’t use social media to discuss his family, posted that his wife Lori has been in hospital with COVID-19 since Saturday. He noted that she is in stable condition, although she is on oxygen and hasn’t been aware enough to speak. He added that she has diabetes and is in need of a kidney transplant.
The virus has wreaked havoc on his family. The council member was struck with the virus last week and has been self isolating.
“With both of us sick with COVID-19, I haven’t seen my son in 12 days. He hasn’t seen his mom in 5 days. I know I’m one of the lucky ones that I’m on the mend hopefully but some prayers for my wife…” he tweeted.
Constantinides, known for his humbleness and quiet demeanor, noted that the disease has affected many families in Queens and New York.
“I’ll be praying for all of them,” he posted. “Please social distance. It’s life or death.”
Constantinides has received plenty of support.
“We love you and your blessed family my brother,” tweeted Council Member Barry Grodenchik. “We are all praying for a speedy and complete healing of your dear wife.”
State Sen. Michael Gianaris posted: “Thinking of you and praying for you, Lori and Nico. Stay strong and lean on your extended neighborhood family. We’re here for you.”

Jimmy doesn’t want to ruffle any feathers. He’s bound by term limits and doesn’t want to jeopardize the special interest job that’s lined up for him.

Best of luck and speedy recovery, there isn’t much else to be said. This virus is ruining many life’s and families, due to lack of quick action on our government.
Why are we still allowing people to walk around and spread this disease?
