An eyeglass bandit stole glasses right off the face of two teenagers inside the 33rd Street 7 train subway station earlier this month.
The woman snatched the glasses off a 19-year-old girl and, moments later, she swiped a pair off a 14-year-old girl’s face inside the Sunnyside/Long Island City station on Feb. 7 at 3:25 p.m., police said.
The woman, who is believed to be 30 to 40 years old, ran off on Queens Boulevard, heading west. She was last seen wearing all dark clothing, police said.
Both victims sustained scratches to their faces as a result of the eyeglass snatching.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). Agreed, if you’re accused of a crime you go to jail; guilty until proven innocent. Or until you can pay money.
Sure, study after study has shown that bail reform doesn’t increase crime. I know Trump lovers don’t really do science though
Not the point. My point is that nobody wants to help because there’s no protection from anyone else if they turn on us. There’s nothing as hefty as 7years that is guaranteed if you assault an mta worker.
Why don’t you help? Too busy crouching down at your phone???
@Dear Guest- Of course there are laws about assaulting passengers. Your post is absurd.
Thank U Senator Gianaris. Our heartfelt thanks
You know that if anyone intervenes it’s their asses, right? There is no law against assaulting a passenger but there are against assaulting a police officer or mta worker.
Most people nowadays don’t even say thank you if they are helpful.
Bandit Stole Glasses off Teens’ Faces, and people just watched it happened and did nothing. Some people..
Someone commented seeing this lady on queens blvd, did you call cops when you saw her? Or did you go “it’s not my problem”?

*edit- “She was last seen wearing all dark clothing… and glasses”.
Poor kids, hope they are doing ok. Any way to donate some $ to help get them some new glasses ?
This woman has been walking up and down Queens Blvd. for years. She begs for money.
I think I have seen this woman panhandling. She looks familiar.
Many of us are becoming desensitized to the crime, assaults and violence taking place in our neighborhood and throughout Northwestern Queens. You need to in order to cope and go on with your lives especially when are made to feel that you are over exaggerating, wrong for worrying and not right or politically correct to speak up. However, it really upsets me and angers me when children or elderly are being targeted. That is something I can not get used to. Please look out for our children.
Clear evidence that bail reform needs to be significantly reformed.
