ASP fines increase to $65 citywide starting Feb. 20

The city is hiking the fine for alternate side parking violations starting tomorrow, according to the Department of Sanitation.

Fines for violators–who fail to move their vehicle to make way for street cleaning–will increase to $65 starting on Feb. 20 in all five boroughs.

Currently, drivers who receive tickets for ASP violations in the outer boroughs pay $45, with the fine only being $65 for those ticketed in Manhattan on or below 96th St.

The Department of Sanitation made an announcement on Twitter last month that the fine would be $65 citywide.

“Residents are our partners in keeping the city healthy, safe and clean,” the DOT said in a Tweet.

@skillmanite: Yes, I am acutely aware that there is more than the Gardens in Sunnyside. I guess one through street (Ave) having some parking spots removed for traffic releaving turning lanes makes all of Sunnyside. Next we come for the houses with driveways?

@skillmanite: you mean where there are turning lanes to improve flow of traffic? Everyone’s got to complain about something I guess. Surprising that fines for street cleaning get this community all twisted up.

Sunnyside is not just about the Gardens. Maybe ‘A’ should open his eyes and venture south onto 43 ave and he’ll see plenty of parking spaces that were removed without any dialogue with the residents.

Where did the city remove parking spots? I’ve been in Gardens for a few years and all I see are street parking spots throughout the neighborhood. (Yes, I drive and street park my own car)

Crap on the drivers again that pay the most in fees … taxes … tolls… etc
No wonder people are fleeing New York ….

A Brooklyn man was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of manslaughter, drunk driving and other crimes for a fatal collision in Astoria that killed his long-time girlfriend and mother of their young child in February.
