One Person is Dead in Woodside House Fire, Another Injured: NYPD

One person is dead and another was injured in a house fire in Woodside this afternoon, police said.

The fire broke out on the second floor of a two-story home, located at 39-30 56th St. The FDNY got the call around 3:23 p.m. and sent 105 firefighters and EMS personnel to battle the blaze.

Police found an individual critically injured in the house. The victim, who has yet to be identified, was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst and was declared dead.

A second person was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital Queens with minor injuries, police said.

The FDNY was still trying to put out the blaze as of 4:45 p.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
