Police are searching for a man who allegedly walked into a Woodside church and swiped some bags.
On April 18 around 8:55 p.m., the suspect entered Sure Foundation Lutheran Church, located at 64-20 Roosevelt Ave., and stole two unattended bags that belonged to two choir members who were singing at the time.
The two victims, an 18-year-old female and a 23-year-old female, had their iPhones, wallets, credit cards, and other miscellaneous items in their bags at the time. The total value of the stolen property was around $2,320.
The thief is described by police as Hispanic, in his late 30’s, and had a beard. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded winter jacket, red sweatshirt, dark pants and a gray backpack.
Police are offering a reward up to $2,500 for information regarding the Grand Larceny.

Shame , woodside was nice in this area until 1980s the it went downhill. Its still shady from 48st to flushing. In other words…there isnt a good stretch on roosevelt! The whole Avenue is horrible
I was at the Dollar Tree on Queens Blvd and 39th today and when I walked in the employees were frazzled and someone was calling the police to report a robbery that had just happened. Apparently a guy stole big bags full of candy and other groceries. Maybe the same guy.
A video of the crime was posted on FB. Culprit clearly littered when entering the church. Surely the police could obtain fingerprints if they wanted to. To the person who commented about being tempted to take things unattended, shame on you. Just because something of value is left unattended does not make it less of a crime to take it. Stealing is stealing no matter how premeditated or not.
How can you just leave your belongings out without any security guard or anyone watching? Come on, this is New York City, not Iowa!!!

Aren’t they tracking the iphones? Is NYPD looking for this piece of crap? I wonder how many people have seen his ugly face since April 18th but it’s too late to remember now. He is probably half way back to Georgia or Carolinas by now.

Hmmm…. Stealing is stealing whether it’s an apple or a house but of you leave your door unlocked things might get stolen. You can no longer be too trusting anymore.
I’m not condoning stealing but who hasn’t gotten an idea like that when faced with something of value left unattended?

I’ve never considered seeing if a church was locked in hopes I could steal $2k of the choir’s stuff. If you “get ideas like that,” that is not normal, and you need help. People who get ideas like that have something wrong with them.
