Sunnyside Stores to Open

Two new Sunnyside stores are soon to open, with another already in operation.

Amazon Pharmacy, yet another independent drug store, is in the midst of opening between 43rd and 44th on Queens Blvd (the old Sleepy’s store).

Meanwhile, a T-Mobile retail store is about to move into the old location of moviebank, between 41st and 42nd on Queens Blvd. The store manager said the cell-phone provider is expected to open this week.

Furthermore, a bodega has finally opened on Skillman Ave. (49th Street), where Christine’s Salon was located.

Is that a new T-mobile retailer in addition to the current company store on 46 and Qns Blvd or is the big store moving?

Actually, the store on Skillman is less a grocery store and more a bodega-type convenience store.

A Brooklyn man was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of manslaughter, drunk driving and other crimes for a fatal collision in Astoria that killed his long-time girlfriend and mother of their young child in February.

Ray Perez, 27, of Caton Avenue in Flatbush, was arraigned Thursday in Queens Supreme Court on a 13-count indictment charging him with vehicular manslaughter for allegedly speeding through a stop sign in Astoria, colliding with another vehicle and slamming into two parked cars, and then driving nearly four miles away to a street in Maspeth before seeking help for his 29-year-old girlfriend Bridget Enriquez, who later succumbed to her injuries.
