NYPD: Parks Dept. Worker Arrested after Throwing Chair at Colleague in Woodside

A Parks Dept employee was arrested while on the job for attacking a colleague with a chair at a Woodside playground Thursday morning, police said.

Emerald Gentles, 28, was at a training session at St. Michael’s Playground, located at 62nd Street and 30th Avenue, when she swung a chair and hit a 55-year-old female coworker after a dispute erupted.

The victim’s left arm was injured in the attack and she was taken to an area hospital for her pain, police said.

Gentles was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. yesterday and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment, police said.

At least they had a park attendant. Chair or no chair, someone there working, compare that to our park on Greenpoint and 43rd, never a single park worker, park full of drunks or people fighting.

Park is also filled with small children playing in the sprinklers and playground, mothers sitting and talking, senior citizens sitting on benches talking, older men playing board games, kids playing basketball and handball. What a mess.
