Permits have been filed for the construction of a 5-story, 14-unit apartment building to go up near the Quality Inn hotel in Woodside.
The development is slated to be built at 43-36 53rd St., where a single-family house is currently located, according to Dept. of Buildings filings.
The owner of the site, Jan How Kang, has yet to file for demolition permits. The house was bought in May 2014 for $1.15 million, city records show.
The development will go up across the street from the Quality Inn, located at 53-05 Queens Blvd. The Quality Inn has been used to shelter the homeless since 2016.

Everybody cares about the Russian story, only gullible and easily conned traitors to America would turn a blind eye.
Is the property on the corner? If not, how are they permitted to go 5 stories high?
I hope some investigating reporting on the influx of hotels in our area is done. These businesses do nothing for our quality of life. Hotel owners may be in it solely for the tax dollars they get from housing the homeless. Follow the money.

No. It is not on the corner. Great Bear Auto shop is on the corner. The yellow house in the picture is the address mentioned in the article to demolished.
They paid 1.15 million for what looks like a run down single family home in a not so great location. It was probably already zoned to go much bigger given that sale price.
It’s an apartment building (rentals), not a hotel.
There has been an influx in hotel construction because certain areas aren’t zoned for residential so they can’t building housing there.
