Sunnyside’s wealth of nail and beauty salons will see an addition in a few weeks time when a new salon opens on Queens Boulevard.
“Pink Nails,” the name of the nail salon, will open at 46-21 Queens Blvd. sometime at the end of July or early August, according to Elsa Tirape, the owner.
Tirape, a 36-year-old Ecuadorian native living in Corona, said she’s been thinking of opening a nail salon of her own for a while, and found an opportunity to do so when she saw the “for rent” sign over the store—once a pharmacy.
She began working on fixing up the new place with new shelving and finishes about two months ago, and will offer an array of services including manicures, pedicures, waxing, and massages when the salon opens. Manicures will be priced at $12, while pedicures will cost $25.
While this is Tirape’s first business, she brings her experience from working at a popular Sunnyside nail salon, Lotus Nails & Spa, to the new location.
The Queens Boulevard site was previously occupied by Platinum Pharmacy, which opened in 2015 but shuttered in late 2017.

An Asian “spa” recently opened on 43rd Street, next door to the office of Sunnyside Shines and close to the Public Grade School. Door and display window are entirely covered by posters, so it’s impossible to see the interior. Rumors have been flying about a possible “knocking shop.”
Thanks for the tip
$12 for a reg manucure???? Um NO
Another salon? Good luck
Asian Massage parlors flooding the area as well. NYPD should look into this.
Really? Where?

HA!!! My council person does nothing.
unless there is money in it for him
Congratulations Elsa, I cannot wait! While it seems other neighborhoods are saturated with affordable nail salons, we seemingly lack good/quality service nail salons where we can just pop in for a quick mani pedi without it costing $50
Are you being sarcastic?
“Wealth”? I think you misspelled “glut.”
