SriPraPhai, the famed Thai restaurant based in Woodside, has expanded to a third location, this time operating out of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
SriPraPhai opened the doors to its newest restaurant on Sunday at 176 North 9th St.
The new restaurant takes over Qi Thai Grill, which was once a joint project between Sripraphai Tipmanee, the owner of SriPraPhai, and Pichet Ong, a chef known for his dessert creations.
Larry Tipmanee, Sripraphai’s son, said Ong wanted to leave the locale after helping open it four years ago, which presented an opportunity for SriPraPhai alone to operate in the neighborhood.
Larry closed the Williamsburg location for about a week as he worked to renovate the restaurant, adding fountains and slightly changing up the interior decor. The restaurant can seat 100 people in its tables and bar section.
Menu items, with entrees priced between $12 and $30, include noodle dishes, like pad thai and drunken noodles, fried rice, fish and chicken cooked with ginger sauces, basil duck, and a variety of curry dishes. Salads, soups, and appetizers are also served.
SriPraPhai’s first restaurant, located at 64-13 39th Ave., opened in the 1990s after operating as a small bakery. The restaurant, known for serving authentic Thai dishes, has consistently been ranked in several publications as the best Thai restaurant in New York, with Zagat reviewers deeming the restaurant the “holy grail of Thai food” with “out of this world” dishes.
The Tipmanee family eventually expanded to a second location in Williston Park on Long Island.
The Williamsburg location is open Monday through Thursday from midday to 10:30 p.m., and Friday until 11 p.m. The restaurant opens at 12:30 p.m. on weekends, and closes at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. SriPraPhai closes between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Great.
Much success to them, always root for Woodside. Still enjoy Thailand Center Point better.
I placed a commentary…who cares….so shallow are we becoming……
Hey George, try to write a sentence or two without ellipses, okay? We’re adults and we use standard English around here. If it’s too much of a struggle, take a literacy class.
Georgie loves to drink that Hater-Ade. Mmhmmm.
Does anyone really care…MY GOD..WHO CARES….WE HAVE PEOPLE WHOM CANNOT AFFORD RENT…FOOD???GROW UP..SNOW FLAKES..GROW UP
You’re so right! I mean, how could a site dedicated to local news report… local news?
THE END IS NIGH!
Pray for the rapture, everyone.
cannot afford is not an excuse. they are always opportunities. you’ll always have those lifetime renters that live paycheck to paycheck, not caring to save for home ownership or retirement or when things go south.
where is the second?
Long island. The Brooklyn location was called Qi, so not really a new restaurant, just a name change….
