C Clearly, a family optometry practice located at 48-14 Skillman Avenue, held its grand opening event on Saturday– a little over a month since its soft opening.
The free and open-to-the-public celebration took place on Sept 30 and included light refreshments, music, special discounts and free raffles and children’s vision screenings.

“We look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones,” said owner Christa Cavallaro, who has been a practicing optometrist in Sunnyside and Woodside since 1998.
Christa and her full time store manager Maria Collora had both worked at a nearby Pearle Vision before opening the independent practice on Skillman Avenue this summer.
Deborah McGowan, an interior designer and co-founder of the Sunnyside Woodside Middle School Project, helped design the office for Christa, giving it a friendly, boutique look in the front, with examination rooms in the back.
C Clearly accepts a broad range of insurances, including VSP, Davis Vision, Cigna Vision, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Oxford, United Healthcare, Medicare and many union plans including 32BJ and Uniformed Firefighter’s Association.
Collora, who is often the first person people see when they walk through the doors, said she enjoys showing new customers C Cleary’s wide selection of eyewear which now includes brands such as Ray Ban, Tom Ford, Cole Haan, Guess, bebe, Kenneth Cole, Anne Klein and more.
“We also carry both prescription and non-prescription sunglasses,” Collora added.
Cavallaro, aware that many people spend extended periods staring into electronic screens, has begun carrying “blue light” blocking spectacle lenses and anti-reflective coating for eyeglasses which helps against the extra exposure to light radiation from computers, cell phones and high definition televisions.
This phenomenon, along with other changes in how sight can be affected by every day activities, is a reason why Cavallaro believes both children and adults need to have an annual eye exam.
“Some people haven’t seen an eye doctor since they were in grade school, and a lot has changed since then in regards to how we use and care for our vision,” Cavallaro explained.
Regular hours of operation are:
Tuesday: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Wednesday & Thursday: 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
Friday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm

I already went here for a new prescription. It is a nice looking place. The doctor and receptionist were really helpful.
