Police looking for a necklace snatcher in Woodside

A man has been targeting women for their necklaces in Woodside, according to police.

The police said that the suspect approached a 53-year-old women from behind at around 9:20 am on October 4 and then snatched her necklace before fleeing. The police said the incident took place around 45th Avenue but did not provide any more specifics.

In another incident, the suspect allegedly snatched a necklace from around the neck of a 47-year-old woman in the vicinity of Woodside Avenue and 72nd Street. The suspect was on a bicycle.

The suspect is described as approximately 30-35 years of age, 5’7″-5’9″ slim build last seen wearing a black jacket with a white stripe down the arm, dark colored pants, dark colored sneakers and a gray baseball hat.

A Brooklyn man was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of manslaughter, drunk driving and other crimes for a fatal collision in Astoria that killed his long-time girlfriend and mother of their young child in February.
