The Sunnyside branch of First Central Savings Bank will be closing at the end of October, according to signage posted at the location.
The Sunnyside branch, located at 45-08 46th Street, is one of nine locations that the bank currently operates. The bank was established in Glen Cove, Long Island, in 1999 and its eight branches are all located in Queens.
Customers of the Sunnyside branch are being referred to its Astoria location at 35-01 30th Avenue.
The bank, which focuses on business and consumer lending, touts its service.
“Our Bank’s goal was and still is to fill a void in the big bank mentality, by providing good old-fashioned personal service with a smile,” the bank’s website reads.
The bank has $472 million in deposits, according to iBanknet.com.

these mom and pop banks dont stand a chance against larger competitors, especially online banks like Ally that offer free services.
bizzare lived in sunnyside 15 years didn’t even know they existed…..no fliers no promotions dont remember a thing in the mail or on my car….must have been a Spanish only bank.
I hope someone also takes the shady puppy mill next door sometime soon.
We need another Italian restaurant.
started the bank in 1999? ha ha, yeah that would give me confidence with my hard earned money. real nyers put their money with chase
something smells fishy that is for sure –
Fishy? Try cats and dogs… Have you walked into that location? The odors from the pet shop next door seeps into that branch… Ufff… It reeks of cats and dogs as soon as you open the door to the ATM Lobby.
Oh bummer maybe they can use this one as a movie studio for the next 2 years just like Dime Bank on Queens Blvd.
I hope it’s not another bank. Panera Bread would be great, except the funky smell from the pet shop will be tough to maintain a food store front there.
I totally agree… That branch smells as soon as you open the door to the ATM lobby… I wouldn’t go eat there if the new tenants open up a food joint. They’d have to really do something about the terrible smells coming from the pet shop next door.
Lots of foot traffic on that block, going to and coming off the train. Bakery chain opening doors away, Pio Pio with side walk seating. Benches. I’d say that stretch is desirable. I’d expect the photo place and the pet store to be gone when their leases expire and the landlord jacks up the rent 500%. Then CitiBank, and/ or another starbucks can move in.
It would be great to have another Citi branch in our neighborhood. Thanks for the great post.
Seem to have a branch in every Queens neighborhood except Sunnyside. Weird.
That would be the perfect location for a decent bagel shop. Sunnyside doesn’t have one currently. Astoria, on the other hand, has loads of them. We’ll probably just get another taco joint.
Bagels Plus is pretty decent. Nature’s Vida’s bagels are really surprisingly good.
Those aren’t in Sunnyside!
Close enough
No love for Dave’s? I think they’re pretty good.
I agree. I bet way too many bagel-eating Sunnysiders buy supermarket bagels when they’re not complaining about the lack of support of local merchants.
By decent do you mean some overprices hipster haven that makes rainbow bagels and cookies and cream cheese? Nah, Dave’s is great…check the lines on Saturday/Sunday of those looking for that hangover remedy…

Not enough money in Sunnyside?
