Tickets are now on sale for the 2016 Taste of Sunnyside.
The event, organized by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District, will feature about 30 restaurants and will once again take place under a block-long tent on Queens Blvd (between 45th and 46th Streets) under the elevated 7 train.
The event, scheduled for Tuesday, May 24, will showcase the cuisine offered by Sunnyside’s diverse range of restaurants and attendees will be able to sample the food prepared by each of the participating establishments.
This will be the sixth Taste of Sunnyside, the third to be held outdoors under the big tent.
“The Taste of Sunnyside offers more than food sampling – it’s a celebration of the neighborhood’s diversity and local character,” said Rachel Thieme, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “Whether it’s your first time to Queens or you’ve lived here all your life, we think you’ll love this event.”
Given the diversity of neighborhood restaurants, the selection of ethnic food is likely to be vast. For example, there will Filipino food provided by Tito Rad’s to Colombian cuisine offered by Los Verdes.
In addition, Salt and Fat and Venturo Osteria, both recognized by Michelin as Bib Gourmand picks, will be showcasing their cuisine.
The event will also feature new additions, such as Cooldown Juice and Williamsburger. Lowery Bar and Kitchen, which is expected to open on the corner of 43rd Street and 43rd Avenue this month, will also be there.
This year’s event includes plenty of local beverages as well. Three Queens-based breweries will serve tastes of their beers, including Big Alice Brewing, Finback Brewing and Queens Brewery.
The Taste of Sunnyside has traditionally been the BID’s most popular event.
