The Skillman Project, an amalgamation of established bars and restaurants along Sunnyside’s Skillman Avenue, is coming together once again for its 2nd annual Oktoberfest.
The event, which started on October 4th and ends on October 13th, culminates with a large bar and restaurant crawl on Saturday, October 12th, where participants will be treated to beer specials and German-style foods in all of the participating establishments.
“Oktoberfest is a week-long event in Germany so we decided to incorporate that in to this year’s event,” said Hazel Coombes, owner of The Brogue on Skillman Avenue and a founding member of the Skillman Project.
The bars/restaurants will also be selling beer brewed by Harpoon, a Boston craft brewer, specifically for the week-long Oktoberfest.
For the Oct, 12 pub crawl, the bars/restaurants will be offering select beers for just $3 as well as other Oktoberfest specials.
However, to get in on the $3 beers and specials, attendees must sign up at Claret Wine Bar on the day of the event between 3pm and 5pm and buy a wrist band. Participants are required to display the wrist band to benefit from the deals. The fee for the band is $5, which the Skillman Project will use to help beautify and maintain the area.
“This is the Skillman Projects’ sixth bar crawl overall,” Coombes said. “All of our bar crawls have been very busy, with last year’s Oktoberfest being particularly successful.”
Participating Bars and Restaurants for the event include: The Dog and Duck, Claret Wine Bar, Flynn’s Garden Inn, Quaint Bistro, Murphy’s Bar, Cafe Marlene, The Brogue, Aubergine Cafe and Copper Kettle.
