Lens Lab Express, which has a number of eye-care stores throughout Queens, opened a Sunnyside branch on Wednesday at 45-04 46th Street.
The store takes the space that was occupied by Rovin Optical, which closed its doors in late August.
Lens Lab has an eye-specialist on-site to do eye examinations for glasses as well as contact lens. The store is open 7-days per week and a representative said that appointments are not necessary.
The family run company also has operations in Astoria, Jackson Heights, Rego Park, Corona and Jamaica.

indeed. Nothing says vanity like wanting to be able to read street signs, menus in restaurants, the newspaper, and books, as well as being able to make out the faces of the people you interact with.
We are LOADED with eye glass places – as well as manicure stores and hairstylists. Somebody must be very vain!

It would be great if there were retail locations one could go to and get a pair of single vision lenses, with UV protection, and anti-glare coating, and not drop several hundred dollars AFTER insurance on lower end glasses.
You can easily find that online, but you don’t have the luxury of trying on each pair and deciding what actually works for your face the best.
I wonder if Lens Lab Express will fill this need.
What do u mean Sunnyside can’t keep a good restaurant afloat??? I know many local resteraunts that have been in operation for a long time and are still managing in this bad economy to keep their doors open. Why don’t u get off ur couch , walk around Sunnyside and see what’s going on instead of criticizing the neigherhood u live in. Support local business and our little town of Sunnyside would get so much better. Wish all of u negative writers would stand up and b known in our community instead of moaning about every new business that open. The squeaky wheel gets the oil!!!
oh yeah, just off the top of my head, Dr Georgescu, Pearl vision and the place across the street from Sunnyside Library. Sure what the hell, one more!
really, how many optical places do we need in a town that cant even keep a decent restaurant afloat. We have a few already.
This is the type of service that we need in our town… takes insurance..saves all of us money… has anyone been in there yet since the change over and see how the service is… quality of the frames are… we are in need of qucik and easy tpe of glasses for our town… welcome to sunnyside… we have other here… but now you are here… good luck here

Glad to see somebody is focusing on the local economy. It hasn’t exactly been spectacular lately.
