Crowley Brings School Supplies to Local Kids

Aug. 19, 2012 By Christian Murray

Congressman Joe Crowley hosted a back-to-school drive with Woodside on the Move last Monday for hundreds of children attending summer camp at PS 11 in Woodside.

Crowley visited students at PS11 and donated back-to-school supplies to over 300 campers, including notebooks, pens, pencils, paper and other items. He talked to students about the importance of education.

The summer camp, run by Woodside on the Move, is primarily for students from PS 11 (located at 54-25 Skillman Ave) and PS 152 (33-52 62nd Street).

The program is run out of PS 11’s building and is funded by the city.

“Every child deserves to have the necessary resources to succeed in the classroom.  That’s why I am proud to partner with Woodside on the Move to host this back-to-school drive for students here in Woodside,” Crowley said.

“On behalf of Woodside on the Move, I’d like to thank Congressman Crowley for hosting this back-to-school drive today.  It was inspiring to see the excitement on the faces of each of the children as they received their new school supplies,” said Woodside on the Move executive director Adrian Bordoni.
