Candy Grocery, located at 48-15 43rd Ave., was closed by court order on Thursday for failing to pay cigarette taxes.
The owner was unavailable for comment.

“brammer” is not a bank.
If he did make a “loan” or a “grant”, where do you think the money comes from?
It comes from your pocket, my pocket, and the pockets of our neighbors. Politicians, at any level, should not be allowed to take our property (our wages) in order to buy votes…in order to stay in power…in order to buy more votes…ad infinitum.
Owner may have been caught selling ciggies to favored customers at “bargain” prices that didn’t include taxes. I’ve seen it being done at other stores in Sunnyside, but I won’t mention any names.

Aren’t they supposed to charge the customer the tax? Is there extra tax that only the merchant pays?
I hope they can recover. We are taxed enough!
What a shame…this older indian or pakistani couple who owned this store had another store for years by met food also on 43rd ave now it non payment of taxes…..what is gong on here… it is a shame….if they need help let them all brammer and ask for a loan…what a shame to lose a store before the hollidays..I hope they pay their taxes…
