Crime in the 108 Police Precinct, which covers Sunnyside, Woodside and LIC, was down for the year through to the end of August, compared to the same period in 2008, according to NYPD data.
Robbery, felony assault and burglary were all down for the year to date, compared to the same period last year. There has only been one murder this year, compared with last year’s two.
There has, however, been a significant increase in the number of reported rapes. There have been nine this year, compared with five last year.

I’m with the prior two commentators, I don’t believe a word of the lines Bloomy and Kelly are feeding the public. Endless stories about cops telling residents not to file reports for serious matters.
I’d be interested in what gets counted and what doesn’t. A friend in Sunnyside reported an attempted assault that occurred in the wee hours but the cops kept telling her the guy ‘probably thought she was cute.’ I would assume the ‘official statistics’ are lower than reality.
Yes, I believe Bloomberg’s crime stats. I also heard there was a bridge in Brooklyn for sale. Will have to check that out.
