The location manager of the “The Rememberers”, a CBS pilot show that shot many of its scenes in Sunnyside Gardens late March, is donating $1,000 toward the Christmas/Holiday lights that will be erected on Skillman Ave. in November/December.

“We would be honored to donate a thousand dollars for the Skillman Ave. holiday light fund,” said Barbara Heller, location manager for “The Rememberers,” yesterday, in response to a request from the Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce. The pilot’s producers had already paid location fees to property owners and adjacent store owners.

Many residents had complained about the inconvenience to many car owners who had to constantly move their cars as the production took place over an extended period in late March.

Last year’s Holiday lighting, a first for Skillman Ave., was popular with both residents and businesses. Chamber Board member Tim Chen of Quaint Restaurant coordinated the lighting effort, helped by Dan Glasser of Stray, and Lily Gavin of Dazies. Additionally, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer’s office played a significant role.

The lights spanned Skillman Ave. from 45th to 51stStreets. This season the lights will be extended farther in both directions on Skillman Ave., from 43rd to 52nd Streets.

The lighting is expected to cost approximately $7,000 this season, so “the CBS donation will be of considerable assistance,” said Sunnyside Chamber president Ira Greenberg.
