Veterinarian to open new clinic in Sunnyside April 29

Dr. Ragaei Tadros

April 20, 2017 By Christian Murray

An Astoria-based veterinarian is opening a Sunnyside location later this month.

The clinic will be located at 45-10 Skillman Avenue and a grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, April 29 at 1pm. The practice is called the Skillman Animal Clinic and has been in the works for about a year.

The owner, Dr. Ragaei Tadros, started construction on the clinic last May but said it took longer than expected to open since there were so many codes set by the Dept. of Buildings he had to meet. He said that the clinic is now complete, although he plans to put up an exterior awning.

Tadros, who owns the Steinway Animal Hospital in Astoria, said he decided to open the Sunnyside location since he heard from his patients/customers that there was a need for one. “A lot of patients would say to me, ‘Why don’t you open here? We need you here,” he said.

Sunnyside currently has only one veterinary clinic, Sunnyside Pet Health Care, which is located at 47-04 Greenpoint Ave.

The Skillman Avenue clinic will consist of 2 exam rooms (one for dogs, the other for cats), an operating theater, a prep room, an X-Ray room, a grooming station and an office. The clinic will be open 8:30 am- 8 pm Monday-Friday and 8:30-5 pm on Saturdays.

Tadros said the office will be open from 12pm-3pm on Sundays for emergencies.

These hours are subject to change.

What's up, Doc?

A good vet has been needed in Sunnyside for a long time. I wouldn’t even take my pet rock to the vet on Greenpoint Ave. I have no idea how that guy is even in business.
