Tickets go on sale for the 2017 Taste of Sunnyside

Taste of Sunnyside

April 24, 2017 By Christian Murray

Tickets are now on sale for the 2017 Taste of Sunnyside.

The event, organized by the Sunnyside Shines Business Improvement District, will feature about 25 restaurants and will once again take place under a block-long tent on Queens Blvd (between 45th and 46th Streets) under the elevated 7 train.

The event, scheduled for Tuesday, May 23, will showcase the cuisine offered by Sunnyside’s diverse range of restaurants and attendees will be able to sample the food prepared by each of the participating establishments.

This will be the seventh Taste of Sunnyside, the fourth to be held outdoors under the big tent.

“The Taste of Sunnyside is one of Sunnyside’s biggest annual events for a reason—the combination of diversity and community spirit is like no place else,” said Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines. “95 percent of attendees have told us that they plan to return to a restaurant they sampled the first time at the Taste, which says a lot about the quality of their experience.”

Given the diversity of neighborhood restaurants, the selection of ethnic food is likely to be vast. For example, there will Tibetan food provided by the Tibetan Dumpling Café to Mexican cuisine offered by De Mole.

The event will also feature new additions, such as Boon by Moldova, Dayboat and Ida’s Nearabout.

This year’s event includes plenty of local beverages as well. Two Queens-based breweries will serve tastes of their beers, including Big Alice Brewing and Queens Brewery.

The Taste of Sunnyside has traditionally been the BID’s most popular event.

Thanks for paying such close attention Jerry 😉

People can spend their money however they choose. I’d never “com” anyone.

Let us all know how you enjoyed The Taste of Sunnyside. The tickets sell out quick!

I’d wondered that too. I think it’s an individual person, not a storefront (yet). I love ice cream!

It looks like they’ve got the business registered at 4506 46th st. …. next to the pet store. Could be just in time for summer!

Get real

Who wants to eat under the filthy 7 train with all the noise, and smelly gas exhaust from traffic on q.b. ? You need more than that tent to protect you. If the health department came there would be a lot of points racked up. No thanks I’d rather stay healthy.

Apparently lots of folks, they’ve sold out the last year or two 🙂

As you can see from the photo, it’s under a tent as well 🙂

same reasoning for the so called parks. the only real park is the cemetery. the parks here are smelly, noisey, and cemented with zero green space, and the benches face the traffic exhaust. dont ever expect quality of life here, period. buy an apt or two, work your but off, sell for 10 times what you bought it for, then move to a nice small town where the air and water are actually clean, and the people are pleasant, where you can have and raise kids in a far FAR better environment.

you do know it’s inside of a TENT! if you don’t want to go, then don’t show up. Stop being a hater when you have participated in one.

When is somebody going to open up a good Indonesian or Cajun restaurant in Sunnyside? Heck, how about a decent bagel shop?

Cajun food is food that is about to expire so they burn and drench in spices to cover up. The only decent bagel place is in woodside is by St Sebastians ,and like a typical begal store they put on 2 lbs of cream cheese but .005 ounces of butter. I don’t get it, coffee is good though.

People come out of the woodwork with their “great ideas” for restaurants here in the comment section 🙂 But few put their $ where their mouth is. As they say, it’s more fun to come up with the title than it is to write the book.

I look forward to the opening of Evil Dewar’s Cajun Bagels!
