The Globe Tavern, located at 49-10 Skillman Avenue, will be hosting a Tom Petty Tribute night and fundraiser Thursday night, with the proceeds going toward training seeing-eye dogs that are used by the blind and visually impaired.

The event is set for Oct. 26 at 8 p.m., where local musicians will sing hits from the late artist. Raffle prizes will be available during the night, with one ticket costing $5.00 and five tickets $20. Drink specials will also be provided.

A $10 donation is suggested for entry, with funds being handled by the Sunnyside/Woodside Lions Club, which will forward the proceeds to Seeing Eye, an organization based in Morristown, NJ that trains guide dogs.

Liz Taylor, a member of the Sunnyside/Woodside Lions Club and organizer for the event, said it costs about $5,000 to raise a guide dog.

The fundraiser to benefit seeing-eye dogs is the first of its kind by the Sunnyside/Woodside Lions Club.
