Outdoor Film Screenings, Live Jazz, and More at Sunnyside Gardens Park this Saturday

Sunnyside Garden Park, 48-21 39th Avenue

Sept. 15, 2017 by Nathaly Pesantez

Sunnyside Gardens Park will be hosting an evening of live music and vintage film screenings for its seventh annual “Flicks & Jazz in the Garden” this Saturday.

The Sept. 16 event will begin at 5:00 pm at the park with arts and crafts activities for families. Live music will begin at 5:30pm with performances by Davi Vieira, a musician specializing in Brazilian music, and the Liftoff Brass Band, a New Orleans style music group.

At around 7:30pm, a lineup of vintage cartoons will play, including Betty Boop, Looney Tunes, and Popeye. The night will wrap up with a showing of “The Rink”, a 1916 Charlie Chaplin short.

A selection of “cinema-style” treats will be available for purchase at the event, including popcorn, candy, and pizza provided by Uncle Jimmy’s Pizzera. Beer, wine, and soft drinks will also be available.

Attendees can bring a low chair or a blanket to sit on the grass.

The event is co-sponsored by local businesses including The Globe Tavern, Butcher Block, Artist & Craftsman Supply, Bar 43, and Brookside Market.

The event is open to the public, and a $10.00 donation for non-park members ($5.00 for park members) is suggested. All kids enter free of charge.

In the event of rain, the event will be moved to Sept. 17.

For more information, including the full film lineup, visit the Flicks & Jazz in the Garden site.

Come all yea Snowflaksiders. This will be another fun event. Rumors that Oran Juice Jones might show up with El Loco as his bodyguard. Oran was spotted at the pawn shop buying up some of Neal’s old bling to wear at his upcoming 40 year reunion of his greatest hit “Walking in the Rain” concert.
