Queens resident sentenced to 22 years for killing a man outside Woodside strip club, DA

April 19, 2017 Staff Report

A Queens man was sentenced to 22 years in prison yesterday for shooting and killing a man outside of a Woodside strip club.

Queens District Attorney Richard Brown announced that 30-year-old Dwayne Johnson of Queens Village was sentenced after pleading guilty to manslaughter for shooting and killing 25-year-old Allah Howell in October 2013 outside Perfection nightclub at 62-05 30th Avenue, which has since been shut down.

“The defendant has now been sentenced for the senseless killing of a 25-year-old man outside a nightclub in Queens,” Brown said. “As a result of this brazen crime, the children of the victim will never see their father again. And the defendant – a father as well – will be locked away for long term of incarceration. Violence has no place in a civilized society.”

According to court documents, a police sergeant was helping with crowd control outside the nightclub shortly after 4 a.m. on October 5, 2013 when he saw Johnson point a gun at Howell and fire several shots in to his chest, piercing his heart and lung.

The defendant immediately fled on foot with the sergeant pursuing him, and was later apprehended in a nearby cemetery. The gun he had used was later found with Johnson’s DNA on it discarded behind a building he had passed on his way to the cemetery.

Johnson pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter this month and will serve 22 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Allah Rule Howell just happened to be my student in elementary school. He was a nice kid,,,…mischievous, like most young boys, but definitely not deserving of his fate. He drew me a cowboy and I still have it to this day. I was actually stunned to hear about this sad event. May he rest in peace. God bless him today and always.

“A police Sergeant helping with crowd control outside the night club at 4 AM” A/K/A A Cop working his “other” job as a bouncer. Wonder if he was registered to perform that task. Pretty Sure there are a lot of hoops to jump through for NYPD to work “security”….. especially for a “gentlemens” club.
