Man beats and stabs girlfriend in their Woodside home, police say

March 15, 2017 Staff Report

An off-duty EMT was arrested yesterday after assaulting and stabbing his girlfriend in their shared Woodside home.

According to police, 31-year-old Peter Matura, an EMT with the FDNY, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. yesterday after assaulting his girlfriend in their home near 64th Street and Queens Boulevard.

He allegedly threw her against the wall and smashed her head against the wall causing pain and swelling, and then stabbed her in the abdomen, causing a laceration.

When she tried to call 911, he allegedly grabbed her phone from her hand and smashed it on the floor.

Matura was charged with assault, grand larceny, criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.

Though police did not know the state of Matura’s girlfriend, the NY Daily News reported that she was listed in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital.
