Tickets to the annual Taste of Sunnyside event happening next Tuesday are just about gone, with organizers making one last call to the public to purchase their tickets.

The May 22 evening event, at the P.C. Richard parking lot on Queens Boulevard, includes 23 area restaurants offering tastings, along with a variety of beverages from local breweries and bars.

New to this year’s festivities is a beer-garden seating area, a games area sponsored by Solid State, and an after-party at their bar, located at 53-22 Roosevelt Ave.

“People are really excited about this year’s changes, and our ticket sales really show it,” said Jaime-Faye Bean, executive director of Sunnyside Shines, reporting that the event is likely to sell out in the next two days. “The Taste has always been a wonderful community event, and our outdoor beer garden, games, live entertainment, and more food than ever are going to ensure a really memorable experience for attendees.”

The event also features live entertainment from the Afro-Latineers and Underground Horns. In addition, attendees can enter a series of raffles to win prizes like round trip JetBlue tickets, a year-long family membership to the LIC YMCA, a jet-ski and dine package from Thai Rock in the Rockaways, and more.

Attendees will also receive a Taste of Sunnyside passport—a book of coupon savings to be used at local restaurants and businesses after the event.

Tickets can be purchased online at, with options for a $70 VIP ticket that guarantees a 5:30 p.m. early entry to the event, general admission tickets at $40 for entry at 6:30 p.m., and more. The event ends at 8:30 p.m.

The event is organized by Sunnyside Shines BID, which works to promote businesses in the neighborhood.
