Escalator at Woodside station to be repaired by mid January

subwaystation

Dec. 2, 2016 Staff Report

The escalator at the 61st Street-Woodside station has been broken for the past couple of weeks and commuters have been forced to climb the stairs to get on the train.

The MTA plans to fix the escalator and has notified Community Board 2 Chairwoman Denise Keehan-Smith that it will be up and running no later than mid January.

Several disgruntled commuters have been posting angry comments about the broken escalator on the Facebook group “7 Train Blues” in recent days.

Chris Michael Moll wrote: “And you want to slap us with a fare hike next year,#MTA????!!! ???
NOT COOL!!!”

Last year, one of the elevators at the station was out for almost 12 months.

call your counsel person Jimmy Van Bramer and see what he will do about it absolutely NOTHING – nothing to put in his pockets –

Maybe if Van Bramer weren’t constantly needlessly antagonizing the MTA, he could place a call. As it stands…

This is the point – people can’t get to the subway because they are elderly or disabled. Read the article.

If I recall, one of the issues with the elevator was urine causing damage to the electrical components. Such a charming station!
