B24 Weekend Bus Service Begins Again Jan. 6

Dec. 28, 2012 Staff Report

The B24 weekend bus service–which connects Brooklyn and Queens (via Williamsburg, Greenpoint and Sunnyside)–has been restored after more than 2 ½ years of being down.

Weekend service will begin again on Sunday, Jan. 6, and Sunnyside commuters will be able to catch the bus on Greenpoint Avenue, according to state senator Mike Gianaris.

The B24 line will run on Saturdays and Sundays from Greenpoint to Williamsburg, from 5 am to 12:42 am (the following morning). It will also go from Williamsburg to Greenpoint, from 4:55 am to 1:27 am (the following morning) on both days.

The restoration of “the B24’s weekend service is a step in the right direction,” Gianaris said. However, “I will continue to push the MTA to reinstate all western Queens mass transit cuts,” he added.

In September, Gianaris was successful in extending the Q103 bus line service on Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City by 40 minutes each weekday.

Something positive happens in the neighborhood and not a soul to comment!

I, for one, say thank you to the local government for helping to restore these services.
