VFW Ladies Auxiliary
The VFW Post 2813 Ladies Auxiliary is the civilian right hand of the post itself. The Ladies Auxiliary members are related on some level to a veteran who has served in a foreign war. They are under the National VFW Ladies Auxiliary Bylaws.
The original ladies auxiliary of the post was phased out through attrition about five years ago. The current Auxiliary was reborn with a few members, headed by Sandra Bigitschke, President and Mary Roeder, Senior Vice President.
The purpose of the Ladies Auxiliary is to raise funds for projects related both to state, community and overseas veterans. The ladies can also serve in the general community when it would be appropriate. This year’s projects include Wounded Warrior’s, Homeless Vets and Care boxes. These projects are funded through community fundraisers and donations.
The meetings are on the third Wednesday evening of each month at 6:15 p.m. The Post is currently located on 52 Street and Queens Boulevard.
