do you know what is going on behind pathmark on 43rd street. all the building hav e been torn down and now we have new constructinon on barnett ave changing out streets what is happening with our little town. We do not get notices about our street changng or driving on centain streets

I always get confused on this site at the bottom of the page when scrolling through articles because the “older articles” and “newer” articles seem to go the opposite of most sites that I use regularly. Oh well maybe I use weird sites. Great blog btw! Thanks.

Thank you for keeping Sunnysidepost dot com with updated news about the neighborhood.

Along 43rd Street between 37th Ave. and the back of Pathmark supermarket, there are some demolished buildings and the whole block is boarded up. What is going on there? What will be there to replace these buildings?

Hi, Christian! You ought to do a story about the termination of weekend service on the Greenpoint Avenue bus line that connects Sunnyside and Greenpoint. Many people depend on it for their jobs, shopping, or whatever.And on week days, there will be less frequent runs. It all takes effect at the end of June. Outrageous!

Help Sunnyside and Woodside Go Green!

Next week, North Star Fund is hosting two green visioning sessions where residents of Sunnyside, Woodside, Astoria and Long Island City can help shape plans to make their neighborhoods greener. Residents can voice their ideas on how to invest $7.9 million to improve their community environment.

The green visioning sessions will offer:
· panel discussions, moderated breakout sessions, priority-setting activities
· breakfast and lunch for all participants
· language interpreters and childcare, upon request (Please make requests by Friday, March 12)

Green Visioning Sessions:
Saturday, March 20th, 9:30am – 4pm
Sunnyside Community Services
43-31 39th Street, Sunnyside
(Between 43rd Ave. & Queens Boulevard)

Saturday, March 27th, 9:30am – 4pm
Greater Astoria Historical Society
Quinn Building, 4th Floor
35-20 Broadway, Long Island City
(Broadway & 36th Street)

This unusual opportunity for local residents is the result of a settlement between community groups like Western Queens Power to the People and Con Edison after the 2006 power outage that left countless Queens families in the dark for several days.
