Korean Chicken Restaurant Opens on Greenpoint Ave. Tonight

47-08 Greenpoint AvenueAug. 5, 2016 By Hannah Wulkan

Sunnyside residents will have a selection of up 50 flavors of chicken wings when Korean restaurant chain Pelicana Chicken opens its second New York location tonight at 47-08 Greenpoint Avenue.

The restaurant will open at 5 p.m., offering not only a wide selection of chicken, but other offerings, including ice cream beer floats and cheese fries.

Pelicana was first opened in 1982 in Korea, and now has over 3,000 locations throughout the world. However, there are only three locations in the United States, one in Flushing, one in Palisades Park, NJ, and now one in Sunnyside.

The Flushing location of the restaurant is highly rated on Yelp, with customers raving about the food and drink selection.

The owner, Julie Kim, also operates the Flushing location, and will offer an identical menu in Sunnyside.

The restaurant has 46 seats and 21 tables. It will be open from 12 p.m. until midnight seven days per week. It will also deliver.

It’s really good but man is it really expensive too. $2 each for condiments. Yikes.

THE ONLY THING THAT IS CONSTANT IS CHANGE.

If you guys cannot accept the fact that Sunnyside is CHANGING, then just stay inside your apartment and count cockroaches under your sink! LOL Y’all HATERS need to accept all the changes happening in Sunnyside because the last time I checked, those “hipsters” are the educated ones who earns more than the haters living in Sunnyside. Embrace CHANGE people! FYI moving forward are for winners, and backwards are for.. well, i don’t wanna say it 😛

It seems like this neighborhood is dominated mostly by immigrants not hipsters. Women in hijabs and men wearing Ecuadorean soccer jerseys not hipsters. We need more hipsters.

Has anyone noticed the decline of the stray cat population in the neighborhood!!

You can not find a decent Roast Beef or Pot Roast dinner in Sunnyside anymore, but you can find all manner of “Foreign Inspired” fast food Restaurants. Oh, for the days of a “Sit Down” American Restaurant, like say, Donovan’s but here in Sunnyside.

Used to be one like Donovan’s in Sunnyside. It was PJ Horgans. Forced out by greedy landlord.

Agreed. I’m not against immigrants but I don’t like Turkish or Indian or Korean food.

All u old timers are just old period. I’m sure in your day was a trend of dressing a certain way and the old timers then probably thought u looked ridiculous. Just by using the words beatnik and hippie shows how old u r.
The article is about THE RESTAURANT and u all manage to revolve the conversation around the people moving in. I don’t think u could cut it in Bklyn,LIC or NYC either.Korean chicken is amazing. Im sure if it was another Irish bar opening u all would b clapping. Chunky u should call yourself Donkey or A– instead. It is a neighborhood,u r just not neighborly and have no class. I’m so over listening to all of u always complaining about the same thing.Maybe u can form a mutual admiration society, get together with your other cronies and sit and complain to each other.

This is so delicious in Flushing. Used to travel there for it and make the trek but now so glad it’s like 5 blocks from where I’ve lived for 20+ years. Happy with all the new delicious food places!

Anyone tried the wings last night? Worth it? Paris Baguette is OK, but it will compete with Cafe Grosnez

There’s a reason why this chain is popular is Korea and I hope you guys try it at least once before you rag on it.

I was attacked by a rooster named Clarence today. It was not in this neighborhood but I recommend you all be very careful as chicken can travel long distances when they want to mate. If I catch him, I will give his wings to Julie Kim.

Sounds interesting. Can’t imagine 50 different flavors! I hope they have chicken flavored wings; those are my favorite. I know that you can get chicken flavored chips at Butcher Boys; wonder if I can put together some kind of meal with all of this.

So I guess hipsters are okay with a big chain restaurant as long as it comes out of Korea?! Seriously, I’m not even sure you could call our neighborhood a real neighborhood anymore. Jerks in suspenders walking around with e-cigarettes and pretending to good neighbors, when really all they’re doing is poisoning animals. How long is “The Hipster Turkey Derby Formerly Known as Sunnyside” gonna kept accommodating these pukers??? All we want is a hot lunch, and it seems like you can’t even get one around here anymore without crawling over a pile of clowns in highwater pants and weird-beard haircuts they got off the internet, taking selfies to put on a tinder app and say they don’t have a gender. I don’t know, maybe I’m old school and have too much class, but that kind of garbage makes me lose my appetite. Okay, so maybe I could stand to lose a few pounds LOL but all I’m saying is why don’t we stop letting our neighborhood get ruined? It seems like every time I read the Sunnyside Post it’s another article on how happy we should be that our neighborhood is being destroyed by hipster numbskulls. No thank you.

Yeah, and don’t forget the suspenders! Wait a minute; hipsters, beatniks, hippie dirtbags? At 47th Steet and Greenpoint? You are sadly mistaken.

Your letters are stupid and obnoxious. You see hipsters under your bed. I would not eat in this place because the food sounds nauseating but I wish them well.

Reply

Your hipster stuff is boring. You are just jealous because face it you’ve failed in life and can’t get a good job or get married. Get a life.

Wtf are you talking about? This is a Korean fried chicken place and last I checked the boogie man hipsters you’re irrationally afraid of don’t control the chamber of Commerce. Take your meds

Good trolling, but still fail because you should really be doing something more productive with your life
