The group is best known for organizing Sunnyside’s Flag Day Parade each June.

The annual Sunnyside Flag Day Parade, celebrated on June 12th or 13th to commemorate Flag Day (June 14th), has a long tradition in the Sunnyside Queens (New York City) community going back many, many years:

The late Joseph Sabba owner of Sabba Printing (and the Woodside Herald) initially served as chairman of the Sunnyside Flag Day Parade (the park where the parade concludes is named in his honor – refer to the Parade Info page), as well as the local Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce. In time, the Kiwanis Club of Sunnyside, a local branch of Kiwanis International, became the parade’s prime sponsor and remains so up to this very day.
