Be ready to sample the diverse food of Woodside.

Woodside on the Move, a local non-profit, is putting on the first ever “Taste of Woodside.”

Adrian Bordoni, executive director of Woodside on the Move, said he is recruiting as many as 20 local restaurants to participate in the inaugural event. Each restaurant will provide food samples to the attendees—with the aim of generating new customers.

The event, which will cost attendees about $25 per ticket (although the amount has not been finalized), will take place inside the Saint Sebastian’s Parish Center on Wednesday, Nov. 7.  As many as 250 tickets are likely to be sold.

Bordoni said that the event will include jazz performed by local musician Tony Bruno and an historian who will discuss the history of the Woodside.

The event is loosely based on the Taste of Sunnyside, which many view as a big success. That event will be held for the third time on Oct. 15 at the Sunnyside Community Center (details to come).

Oppressed Masses

Will there be samplings of dog food for Woodside’s all important pet contingent? Our City Council representative has pointed out the significant social and community purposes served if dogs are made happy: happy dogs means happy doggy owners; happy dog owners means a more desirable neighborhood; a more desirable neighborhood means higher property values in Woodside; a more desirable neighborhood means demand for living space which will lead to higher rental rates; higher rental rates means folks on fixed incomes and low income types will have to move, improving the quality of life for those able to stay in Woodside. Anyway, if Woodside on The Move wants to insure this event is a sell-out, I suggest offerings of the best of Alpo and Purina be included on the menu.
