Greenpoint Beauty Supplies opened its doors for business yesterday moving into the space that was previously occupied by Quality Fashion Opticals.
The store manager, Sohag Ali, said that the store is selling make up and other cosmetics. Its location is 42-16 Greenpoint Ave.
Queens Fashion Optical moved to 43-09 Greenpoint Ave. earlier this year.

A Metro PCS store opened at the corner of 45th Street and Greenpoint Ave. last week.
A new Thai restaurant is coming to the neighborhood, taking the space on the NE corner of 43rd Street and Queens Blvd, where the Korean restaurant, Shin Chano BBQ, was located.

A local resident is scheduled to open a children’s boutique clothing store on Skillman Ave. by Sept 1.
The store, which will be called Petunia, will be located at 46-21 Skillman Ave., across the street from two well-known restaurants – Claret and Quaint. The previous tenant was a nail salon operator.

A new tenant has been found to replace the owner of the bodega at the corner of 46th Street and Queens Blvd. A pawn shop, aptly called “EZ Pawn Shop”, is expected to open in September.

The 2,000 sqf retail space, once the home of Nelsons Christmas Shoppe (spelling is correct), is expected to open in late August as a farmers market. The name of the new store will be Orchard Farmers Market, located at 42-24 Greenpoint Ave.

Next month, Raja Shah, the owner and operator of the Dog Guru, will open a dog-rescue operation in Sunnyside, at the 5,500 sqf. warehouse space out the back of the former Nelson’s Christmas Shoppe.
Shah has plans to take the warehouse space and bring in 15 rescue dogs, train them – and then adopt them out. [...]

Lenny’s Pizza, which is the latest entrant in the Italian/pizza market place, is opening soon in a nicely renovated space. This was the former site of El Triangulo Bakery & Restaurant, a popular Colombian bakery that’s business suffered after it was closed by the NYC health department last November.
