April Queens Green Drinks

Hosted by Queens Harvest Food Co-op in Sunnyside!

The Queens Harvest Food Co-op is a new community driven venture into the world of fresh, high-quality food at affordable prices. They will be a member-owned and controlled market that puts community before profits. Anticipated opening in the Queens Plaza area in 2011. Please come and meet the members of the Queens Harvest Food Co-op on April 26th at Claret and/or go to www.queensharvestcoop.com for more information!

How do you get to August Queens Green Drinks at Claret?

Claret
46-02 Skillman Ave
Sunnyside

Bike: Use the Skillman Ave bike lanes that stop right at Claret's front door on the corner of Skillman Ave and 46 St.

By Subway: 7 to 46 St.

What's Queens Green Drinks again?

Very simply, it's an informal social gathering/networking event for folks that are environmentally minded. Come and we'll introduce you to some of the other like minded folks in and around Queens. If we're lucky (which is likely) we'll cross pollinate, make new friends, catch up with old ones, and maybe even sprout an idea or three.

Help Sunnyside and Woodside Go Green!

Next week, North Star Fund is hosting two green visioning sessions where residents of Sunnyside, Woodside, Astoria and Long Island City can help shape plans to make their neighborhoods greener. Residents can voice their ideas on how to invest $7.9 million to improve their community environment.

The green visioning sessions will offer:
· panel discussions, moderated breakout sessions, priority-setting activities
· breakfast and lunch for all participants
· language interpreters and childcare, upon request (Please make requests by Friday, March 12)

Green Visioning Sessions:
Saturday, March 20th, 9:30am – 4pm
Sunnyside Community Services
43-31 39th Street, Sunnyside
(Between 43rd Ave. & Queens Boulevard)

Saturday, March 27th, 9:30am – 4pm
Greater Astoria Historical Society
Quinn Building, 4th Floor
35-20 Broadway, Long Island City
(Broadway & 36th Street)

This unusual opportunity for local residents is the result of a settlement between community groups like Western Queens Power to the People and Con Edison after the 2006 power outage that left countless Queens families in the dark for several days.

If you’d like to attend the green visioning sessions, please RSVP to info@northstarfund.org or call 212-620-9110.
