Local resident writes ‘The Good Witch’s Destiny’, airs Saturday

Several Sunnyside and Woodside residents will be glued to their TV sets Saturday night to watch a Hallmark film written by a local resident.

Annie Young Frisbie, who lives in Woodside, wrote the film “The Good Witch’s Destiny”, which is the sixth film in a series about a ‘good’ witch who moved into a small town. In the earlier movies, several members of the community were wary of the witch — but have grown to like her over time.

The Good Witch series has grown in popularity—especially among families–since its underlying themes promote tolerance, compassion and good will.

Frisbie, who was raised in the Baltimore suburbs, said that the small-town feeling of living in Sunnyside/Woodside helped her write the film. “We live in a small town [much like the setting for the film] that just happens to be in a big city,” she said. “I can’t walk out of my house without knowing five people.”

Frisbie has been a screenwriter for the past 10 years—having written for Lifetime and ABC Family. She also co-wrote and co-produced a film called Speak, which debuted at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival and aired on Showtime and Lifetime.  It starred Kristen Stewart and Steve Zahn.

Frisbie, who typically writes for about 4 hours a day and looks after her young children for the remaining hours, wrote the film last summer. She spends a great deal of time with her children in Sunnyside Gardens Park. “I’m sure I wrote some of it there.”

The Good Witch’s Destiny, will play on the Hallmark Channel this Saturday, October 26, at 9 pm.
