Good grief no, please real-state idiots, don’t wreck our neighborhood.
To all the yuppies and hipsters, don’t believe the hype. Sunnyside is a hellhole. We don’t have a single book store and the ABC store doesn’t sell ironic t-shirts. Williamsburg is where you want to be, trust me.
Yes sunnyside is a dump stay away….we love it this way…i hate plastic chrome steel and STERILE that you bring with you.
there is nothing I want in billysburg……just stupid people pissing away tons of money on rent so they can call themselves hip.
I was at a party at a very fancy pantsy apartment in Williamsburg the other week. A rock musician (of course, what else do you expect from Williamsburg lol) and I were chatting and I told him I lived in Sunnyside. He said he knew someone who lived over there and how affordable it was. I said yeah, its a nice bang for your buck compared to Williamsburg. Then he said “Yeah but then you’d have to live in Sunnyside”.
I was about to backhand the guy. Honestly, Williamsburg is the LAST place in NYC I’d move to. I guess he doesn’t realize that Williamsburg is a punchline for every other New Yorker.
Please come to Sunnyside Hipsters we have Venturo the place to be and Venturo is just the beginning time to get rid of all the OLD FARTS who still permeate our streets. PSSSSSTTT we even have a cool Dog Run so please Hipsters and other cool folks please help us change this Neighborhood from Dull and OLD to cool YOUNG and HIP.
Feel so sorry for you Woody. Can hardly wait until they build the 41 and 47 story buildings on QB, and they will, it has been okayed, just waiting for Van Bramer to step in, then you will have all the *young* people you want and the snobbery that goes with them. Just remember that time ages everything even you. Really. Tell me, where did you put your *old* parents? They must be thrilled to have such a kind-hearted son.
I want to buy the Pepsi sign.
I think Woody was being facetious
woody woodpecker reminds me of Alex from Clockwork Orange delighting in kicking the hell out of a defenseless old man on the street. It’ll be great when he grows old. By then, government run healthcare will probably euthanize him the minute he’s incapable of working and paying taxes.
Word of the day: aerosol artist.
“get cash here”
that was a good first image of sunnyside
OLD FARTS BE GONE!!!!!!! what do I care if they build those towers on Queens Boulevard I live in Sunnyside Gardens and we are a Historic District so it won’t happen here. Out with the OLD RIFF RAFF in WITH THE NEW AND HIP.
hey woody – PLEASE stay with the other wannabe’s in sunnyside gardens – the further away from normal people young & old along the Blvd the less we have to deal with you smug, pretentious wannabe WIlliamsburgites & Manhattanites (WHICH YOU COULDNT AFFORD) – trust me we can smell your ugly types a mile a way!
Maybe if some new young people move into Sunnyside, some of the dog poop will be picked up. Seems like the old timers are not so into that.
Dear Woody – I am glad I do not know you or anyone of your ilk. Sunnyside Gardens is *old* and I am surprised that a * young* person such as yourself lives there. Someday you will be a *historic* something or other and they will dedicate an *old bones* area for you and your *aging* compatriots.
Actually I grew up on the UWS lived there for almost 30 years then I decided to classy up Sunnyside so I moved here and slowly but surely we are taking over. so there you OLD RIFF RAFF YOU!
They say ignorance is bliss so you must be extremely happy.
What is the problem with the old timer? Just remember you will old also.
Have some respect.
I see a new bum every other day coming to Sunnyside. A few years ago we only had ONE bum. ONE….
I can certainly appreciate the fact that Woody wants to move forward and quit living in the past. When I moved to Sunnyside in the mid-nineties, it was regressive, dingy, and tired. There have been many positive changes, new blood, and progressive thinking, and our community is better because of it.
If people want to live in the past and continue to cast aspersions on new arrivals and open-mindedness, they will only paint themselves into a corner and find that they are being ignored. Just looking over the abgy and bitter comments above makes me look forward to the future, when old-time thinking is but a memory.
Nothing wrong with old people, it’s the old thinking that is the problem. Keep looking backwards at how you THINK the world used to be and you will never move forward. You will become resentful, impotent, and filled with complaints.
On my table at the Brooklyn Flea market, I have photos of Sunnyside and a nice invitation for people to come check out our neighborhood. There seems to be a lot of interest as the word gets spread around. Jonathan Lethem’s new book talks all about Sunnyside- soon we will be on everyone’s mind.
Hello hipsters, good-bye oldsters!
Actually I am 51 years old but am forward thinking person and I certainly appreciate history what I don’t like are the bitter old farts who hate change my wife and I moved here in 2000 and remember how the first inclusive St. Patrick’s day parade was welcomed by the racists and homophobes in the community. We have come along way since then and I want to keep going forward not backwards to the bad old days.
@ South J – Well said!
Woody is simply bitter that he can’t afford to live in Manhattan anymore.
Woody does not have a pecker hence he is bitter
51! I thought you were young. Misunderstanding on my part.
Heading to Venturo tonight to hang with the Hip young and old! Dazies looks mighty empty these days! The food was lousy and please enough with the Frank Sinatra Music.
Guess you won’t like the new video of Sunnyside at Night. Music too old for you. I loved it.
Do people still go to Dazies anymore? I wonder how they pay their rent?
That song is 75 years old! It’s nice but I only want to hear it once in a while. I like The Clash.
Please, hipsters, come to Sunnyside so I can sell my apartment and triple my money.
