Two men stabbed at Irish bar, arrest made
Two men were stabbed in Paddy Duggan’s Pub on Greenpoint Ave. early Monday morning, the police said.
Police responded to a call around 3:45 a.m. on Monday after a dispute broke out at the 47-14 Greenpoint Avenue pub.
The police said Ali Gashi, 48, of 464 McClean Ave. Yonkers, stabbed the two men. The victims were taken to Elmhurst hospital with puncture wounds. Both men are in stable condition, the NYPD said this afternoon.
Gashi has been arrested on assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon charges.
Sources say Gashi is a longtime regular of the bar who is known by the nickname “Al”.
There weren’t any cheap trashy pubs in yonkers, he had to come here?

Bar owner from maspeth ale house walks in with his son and another guy at 3:30 am. Was served one drink. Bartender then realized they were over served and refused service. This upset them and maspeth ale house bar owner JUMPED over the counter and attacked the bartender who was a female and 1/3 of his size. A customer came to her aid and got jumped by the three guys. Yes, he did pull a knife in self defense. No, Al does not live in the basement. The bartender did the right thing and the hooligans were just trouble. Paddy Duggan’s Pub is a respectable Irish house where friends and family come to enjoy a drink. So the headline should be Maspeth ALE HOUSE PUB OWNER ATTACKS BARTENDER AFTER SHE REFUSED TO SERVE HIM!!!!
All four involved were arrested and bartender is pressing charges for all the bruising she has!
Shame on you, Sunnyside Post. Get your facts straight. Proof to me never to believe what is printed in the paper! Go right to the owner, I am sure he would love to give you the real story, just as I have described above!
Here is another reason why any self respecting patron doesn’t go to this dump…the owner lets anyone in…he’s a greedy “AL”coholic. Places like this give the Irish a bad name. Put this savage out of business!!!
Al is a good guy. He was protecting a girl bartender attacked by scumbags much like the lowlife who wrote this story. Anyone who knows Al is in complete support of him. Me and the rest of the Irish in the community are friends of Al’s and the two dirt bags made out to be the victims but are really the perpetrators!! Everyone in the community needs to get behind Al. Disgraceful article wrote here and I as a business owner in the area now wipe my hands of this advertising medium and hope you go out of business!!
Nothing good happens after 2:00 a.m. What are the names of the perpetrators? There were also incidents on Skillman Avenue, I saw a couple myself. The police or auxiliaries should be more involved.

Sounds like someone just earned themselves a free trip to the Queens County Grand Jury with all those details…btw, they can easily find out your “real” name.
Ugh, what a mess. Hate to hear about incidents like this.
As for all those ragging on the Sunnyside Post, clearly they just posted the details the police provided as soon as they heard them and then updated the story as soon as more details emerged. Why on earth would you assume that they have an agenda beyond informing the community? Instead of trashing a site that provides a vital service, why not email the editor and say you have more information? No need to rant and rave in the comments section when what you really want to do is provide more details in a still-emerging story. A little civility goes a long way.

Haha know the person that got stabbed known him the last 19years and never has being in any trouble. Couldnt meet nicer lads. If the guy with the knife is suppose to be a nice guy what was he doing with a knife if he went for a drink he was the one looking for the trouble. And i hope he pays for what he’s done.
